THE Inner Wheel Club of Galashiels had great pleasure welcoming Margaret Tooth from Blythswood Care to their April meeting.

Margaret gave a very interesting presentation on the work of Blythswood Care since it began in Glasgow in 1966. Aid in the form of clothing, food, educational equipment, after school clubs, medical supplies and emergency vehicles are provided in 14 Eastern European countries.

Margaret also explained that they are expanding into Scotland to meet the needs of people requiring foodbanks.

Every year club members fill shoe boxes for distribution by Blythswood Care and were particularly pleased to see photographs of recipients of the shoe boxes filled with hats, gloves, jumpers, toys etc. A cheque was presented to Margaret on behalf of the Club by President Rosemary McCosh.

Pamela Douglas was presented with her Inner Wheel badge by President Rosemary McCosh.

Four members had an enjoyable time attending the 90th Inner Wheel Annual Conference of Great Britain and Ireland in Telford. Guest speakers gave inspirational talks on a number of charities and projects that Inner Wheel promoted, there were also some light hearted moments from a trip down memory lane presented by one of Britain’s most respected newscasters, Jan Leeming and Monty Don also gave a talk to close the conference on his life and work.
