MUSICIANS from across the Borders have got together to record a compilation album to raise money for charity this Christmas.

The not for profit Borders Community Recording Company launched the Borders Christmas CD at the Mayfield Garden Centre in Kelso.

It contains 19 tracks from various artists across the region. And each track has been dedicated to a charity of their choice.

Included on the CD are songs by Amy Ward, Selkirk; Galashiels ex-Service Pipe Band; Pete Carroll, Galashiels; Rachel Waters, Kelso; and Selkirk Pipe Band.

Among them are some of the world's best known Christmas carols.

And the local charities to benefit include the Katie McKerracher Trust, Fresh Start Borders, the Border Children's Charity, and MacMillan nurses at Borders General Hospital.

Promoter Evelyn Brown said: "This 'chocolate box' assortment of a CD has something for everyone with many genres of music represented and artists from all over the area including traditional, jazz, swing, ska, folk and pop.

"Every track contributor on the CD has chosen a charity that directly helps Borderers. By buying this CD, readers are not only supporting the artists by listening to their music but also helping good causes close to Borderers' hearts."

The CD is one sale now, priced £5, in shops throughout the Borders, including the Music Station in Galashiels, or wherever you see the Rudolph poster.
