FRIGHTENED Rabbit are expected to try out tracks from their new album in some of the remotest venues in the country.

The Selkirk band - Scott Hutchison (vocals, guitar), Billy Kennedy (guitar, keyboard), Grant Hutchison (drums, vocals), Andy Monaghan (bass, keyboard, guitar) - have announced six dates during their upcoming Scottish tour which begins next month - including Fort William, Inverness, Aberdeen, Stirling, Dundee and Glasgow.

They are being supported by Tune Up, aScottish Arts Council initiative to support music touring in Scotland. Funded by the National Lottery, it was established in 2003 to bring quality live music to a host of remote communities often neglected on conventional tours.

For five years, Tune Up has taken some of the finest musicians on the road to numerous Scottish cities, towns, villages and islands all over the country.

This year, Frightened Rabbit, who premiered three new songs, including their new single Swim Until You Can See Land at the Edinburgh Festival in August to rave reviews, are joined by the likes of former Orange Juice frontman Edwyn Collins, who is best known for his 1994 single, "A Girl Like You", which was a hit in both the UK and the US.

Ian Smith, Head of Music, at the Scottish Arts Council, said: "From global, genre-defying, commissioned compositions to new (and veteran) indie, the program for 2009/10 is exciting, varied and exemplifies the strength of Tune Up and how important it is to ensure the highest quality live music tours continue to reach all corners of Scotland. "We are thrilled that Edwyn Collins is back performing and can be part of Tune Up this year. And we are also pleased to support Frightened Rabbit's Scottish tour in November and December.

"Tune Up support provides a platform for great artists to perform in places they would otherwise never visit.

"Over the last couple of years the Selkirk native, now Glasgow based four-piece, have signed to the FatCat label and are fast becoming one of Britain's most loved new bands.

"In these shows, expect new tracks as the band try out songs for their new album, due out Spring 2010." Frightened Rabbit, who can boast Craig Finn (The Hold Steady), Nick Harmer (Death Cab For Cutie) and Simon Neil (Biffy Clyro) among their celebrity fans, will be supported on tour by Errors, The Moth and The Mirror, Phantom Band and Tall As Lions.
