ONE of the greatest Christmas films ever made is having a double screening in Galashiels.

Elf is the story of hapless Buddy who stowed away, as a baby, in Santa’s sack.

And grew up with his adopted elf family at the North Pole.

Played by Will Ferrell, Elf charts Buddy’s mission to find his birth father in New York.

Elf has been winning over children and adults alike since its release in 2003.

On Sunday, December 17, there will be another seasonal opportunity to watch this modern-day classic on the big screen.

MacArts are hosting two screenings – one for the family and one as an Over 18s eggnog viewing.

A spokesman for the MacArts told us: “Come join us for this festive family screening of the hilarious Christmas film that appeals to children of all ages.

“Or just those that love to smile.

“We’ll have mulled wine, juice, mince pies, hot chocolate, and snacks available before the early show, and in the evening there will be a licensed bar with eggnog.”

Everyone dressed as an elf for the family screening will be rewarded with a free festive gift from the MacArts.

The family screening starts at 11am, with doors open from 10.30am, and the over 18s event starts at 7.30pm, with doors opening at 7pm. Tickets for both screenings are available from the MacArts box office on 01896 756 852 or www.ticketsource.co.uk
