OVER £1000 was raised for Marie Curie Cancer Care via the annual Borders Daffodil walk last weekend.

The Jedburgh Pipe Band once again led the way, and facepainting and market stalls gave the occasion a carnival feel at the outset.

Numbers might have been down on previous years, but those who did attend were able to complete the walk in fresh spring-like conditions.

Maureen Stevenson, Fundraising Manager for Marie Curie in Scotland South, said: “Although numbers were down this year, the walk raised £1000, which will provide 50 hours of Marie Curie Nursing care locally.

“The charity is very grateful to its local fundraising groups and to the public, who help us to raise the funds to support our local nurses.” Last year, Marie Curie provided nursing care to 570 local cancer patients, to allow them to spend their final days at home with family and in familiar surroundings.
