DUMPING bank records of former employees in a supermarket car park recycling bin has cost Scottish Borders Council �250,000.
More than 600 pension records were found sticking out of recycle bank last year by an eagle-eyed shopper.
Following an enquiry by the Information Commissioner, the local authority was this week slapped with quarter-of-a-million pounds civil penalty.
Council Chief Executive Tracey Logan said: "It is very disappointing to receive such a high monetary penalty from the ICO especially in the current economic climate."
