POLICE in Selkirk are working with housing officers in a bid to quieten down blocks of flats in Bannerfield.
Over the past month there has been a significant increase in the number of anti-social behaviour incidents from the apartments on Bannerfield Drive.
And warning letters have been sent to the alleged offenders.
Community policeman Roy Brown said: “Most of the anti-social behaviour calls that we received in June were in Bannerfield Drive.
“There has been a change of tenants in some of the flats and this has led to problems.
“Most of the houses have been sent anti social behaviour letters by Scottish Borders Housing Association - a lot of the problems are down to loud music and parties.” Throughout June there were 163 incidents in Selkirk reported to Police Scotland leading to 20 crimes being identified.
Amongst them were six assaults, four acts of vandalism, four incidents involving breach of the peace, two thefts and a car being set alight in Whinfield Road.
Local police also received three calls about youths at Knowepark Primary School.
