POLICE and Health and Safety Executive officers are continuing to probe the death of a man on a Heriot farm last week.
The 64-year-old, who has yet to be named by authorities, had been reported missing last Monday evening after not returning home from work And his body was only discovered at 1.20am the following morning after a search was carried out at Heriot Hill Farm.
Police have confirmed the death is being treated as a work place accident. But an enquiry is continuing into the surrounding circumstances.
Two inspectors from the Health and Safety Executive visited the farm last week.
A spokeswoman told us: “The Health and Safety Executive and Police Scotland are continuing to investigate the incident.” It is understood the man, who was due to retire later this year, was digging drainage ditches for a local contractor. And that a ditch collapsed on him.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Officers are liaising with the Health and Safety Executive during this enquiry.”
