A PRISONER who breached the terms of his Sexual Offences Prevention Order by being in the company of an 11-year-old boy has received another jail sentence.
Ewan Peddie, 37, pleaded guilty to not having previously notified the Police Scotland Chief Constable of four visits by the youngster to his home in Croft Road, Hawick, between March 12 and 14.
Prosecutor Claire Bottomley told Jedburgh Sheriff Court the child was spotted leaving the house at 8.50am on by witnesses who were checking up on him. She added Peddie had gifted him an iPod and speakers.
Defence lawyer Ross Dow said Peddie’s mother was with him in the house and that the child’s mother also knew about the visits. But he accepted that his client had not previously notified the Chief Constable of the arrangement.
The court was told that Peddie was jailed for five years at Edinburgh Sheriff Court earlier this month for a similar offence. The 12 month sentence is to run concurrently with the five years prison term.
