A GALASHIELS bakery has been awarded an “Eat Safe” award in recognition of its extremely high standards of food hygiene.
The award was presented to Alex Dalgetty & Sons shop in Bank Street by Scottish Borders Council’s Environmental Health Department.
The Eat Safe award recognises where food establishments go above and beyond current food hygiene legislation in order to provide the highest possible standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
Dalgetty director Craig Murray said: “I am absolutely delighted for us to be given this award. It is testament to a lot of hard work developing our procedures over the past few years, and in particular the hard work done by Jeanette, Linsey, Anne, Suzi & Liza who deserve special mention.
“We are always working hard to make sure that we are the best at what we do and we are very proud of the award.
“Scottish Borders Council only presents this extremely high level of award to a few establishments every year, and it is very rare for small private companies to reach the high standards required of the award.” The award is currently on display in the Bank Street shop window.
Shop Manageress Jeanette Stevenson said: “I was lost for words, which is unusual for me.”
