THREE-award winning Chefs for Germany and Austria will be making their way to Galashiels over the next few months.

Maplehurst Boutique Guest House in Galashiels will be hosting German Chef Bernard Grubmüller this Friday in the first of a series of foodie themed special events.

Bernard worked as Chef de Partie at a number of 2 and 3 Michelin Star restaurants in Europe including the 3 Star “Schiffchen” in Düsseldorf before opening his own restaurant, Tomatissimo, in Bielefeld-Kirchdornberg. Tomatissimo has been awarded 2 Gault Millau toques and 15 points for culinary quality and creativity and is regarded as one of the best restaurants in the North Rhine-Westphalian region.

Peter Gruber, owner of Maplehurst said: "We are honoured that Bernhard has found time in his busy schedule to visit us, he is not just a excellent and creative chef, but also a dear friend who we have known for over 12 years.

"It will be a delight to have him share his experience and expertise with us and his visit will be a fantastic start to this season of foodie events at Maplehurst."

The Maplehurst Cooking Academy opened its doors in 2015. Bernard Grubmüller's visit will be followed by Michelin starred German TV celebrity Chef Nils Egtemeyer on August 5-6.

Then from St Johann, Tirol, Austrian based chef Gerhard Weiss and Annemarie Foidl, President of the Austrian Sommelier Association will visit Maplehurst on October 14-15.

The Cooking Academy gives people the opportunity to work alongside guest chefs in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, preparing a menu that is later enjoyed as a group. "It's a great experience," explains Peter " we never have more than 10 people in the Academy a small intimate group so there is every opportunity to chat with, watch and learn from the chefs. And of course it's great fun!"

Bernard Grubmüller will be appearing at the Maplehurst’s Cooking Academy event this, Friday May 27. On Saturday May 28, he will be guest chef, preparing an exquisite 5 course Maplehurst Fine Dining Club experience exclusively for 12 people.
