A CHARITY coffee morning in Melrose has raised nearly £500.
The Macmillan Coffee Morning, held in the Smith Memorial Hall, Darnick, on Saturday, September 24, was organised by Jenny Anderson, and raised a total £498 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The event was supported by the village and surrounding area, with lots of home-baking and raffle donations as well as monetary donations from those unable to attend.
The morning involved a number of local young people recruited by Jenny to assist with the many tasks involved at the fundraising event.
Ros Anderson, told the Border Telegraph: "As well as the fantastic fund-raising result, it was also brilliant to hear and see the lovely village hall filled with happy banter.
"A huge thanks are due to all who participated in so many different ways to make the fund-raising effort such a success. The whole event helped to bring Darnick together to show what a community can achieve in a short space of time."
All the money raised will contribute to the work of the Macmillan Cancer Support Charity which aims to ensure that no-one suffers cancer alone.
