TWEEDBANK residents have been warned by Police to be on alert following reports of bogus workmen operating in the area.
Police recieved reports of two separate incidents on Friday, February 24, one in Essenside Place and another in Stobshaw Place.
Both cases involved men cold calling regarding roofing issues.
The men offered to fix damaged roofs. When given access to attic spaces they appear to have caused minor damage to back up their claim.
Officers are warning the public to be aware of this activity and report any incidents or suspicions.
Community Inspector Tony Hodges Galashiels Police Station said: "Any persons calling at your home, unless by prior arrangement, should not be given access.
“Do not allow tradesmen you do not know or have not invited into your home on any occasion.
“Please contact police should anyone call at your home and attempt to gain access without your consent.
“We would urge residents to note descriptions, including registration number of any vehicles associated with these callers along with descriptions of the individuals themselves.
“If in doubt call Police Scotland on 101 or contact us anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
