A FORMER cop who bit the hand of a current serving police officer in the casualty ward at Borders General Hospital has been fined a total of £400.
Stephen Greer, 60, formerly of Penman Place, Galashiels, and now living in Croft Road, Kelso, pleaded guilty to charges of police assault and threatening or abusive behaviour at the accident and emergency department on March 26.
Selkirk Sheriff Court was told that Greer was a serving officer with the Northern Ireland police service for more than 30 years and suffers post traumatic stress disorder.
Defence lawyer Greg McDonnel said: "He apologises to the police officer."
