AN 86-YEAR-OLD woman has died in a car accident on the A701.
The tragedy happened a quarter of a mile from Blyth Bridge on Wednesday morning, when a Honda Jazz overturned and ended up in a field.
The driver, who is yet to be named by police, died at the scene while her 84-year-old female passenger was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with non life-threatening injuries.
Police are appealing for witnesses of the incident near Blyth Bridge.
PC Paul Gibson of the Road Policing Unit said: “Our condolences go to woman’s family and our thoughts remain with them, as well as her friend and passenger, at this sad time.
“As part of our investigation into this, we’d urge anyone who may have witnessed the car leave the road or who saw the car travelling in the area beforehand to get in touch with us.”
