A BORDERS brewery has been included in a global beer review site's world top 100.

Tempest Brewery in Tweedbank is one of only two Scottish companies to feature in the RateBeer list.

The review platform allows users from around the world to share their thoughts and to score the beers they drink.

And it collates each beer's score to allow for ratings out of 100, based on factors like style, taste, and aroma, to be published.

Tempest founder and director Gavin Meiklejohn is delighted with the inclusion.

He told us: “We’ve worked hard for eight years to make the very highest quality of beer.

"Every award and recognition of the teams hard work is always fantastic."

The Top 100 list was compiled by RateBeer on over 24,000 listed breweries worldwide and hundreds of thousands of reviews made last year.

Released every January, many of the world’s best breweries turn their eyes to the site to find out if they’ve been featured.

Of the 2000 breweries in the UK only 10 made it into the top 100.

Tempest's inclusion comes on the back of a year that saw it win six awards at the Scottish Beer Awards.

One of its 18 new brews for 2017, All The Leaves Are Brown, was also named one of RateBeer’s best new beers of 2017.

Gavin added: "Our Ratebeer Top 100 global brewery rating is another accolade which we will continue to work extremely hard to replicate year after year.”
