ON Saturday, February 3, 12 Gala Waterways volunteers cleared ivy and undergrowth beside the Gala Water near the Transport Interchange.
The work generated about seven cubic metres of cuttings, and eight kilograms of rubbish was collected along with a traffic cone.
Sister Wayne from the Church of Latter Day Saints in Utah said: “I enjoyed clearing the vegetation and improving the look of this lovely part of Galashiels.”
Claire Howden, the group’s chairperson added: “We were very pleased with the number of volunteers who turned up on a miserable morning, and very grateful for their efforts in tidying up this prominent part of the Gala Water.”
The group’s next work party will be on Saturday, March 3.
