DRIVERS are facing disruption to their journeys over the next few months as a major Borders road closes for repairs.
The A697 Boghall Bridge, south of the Carfraemill Hotel, has closed to traffic to allow major refurbishment and strengthening works to be undertaken.
The bridge closure is being done in several stages, the first started on Monday (March 12) and will end on March 16, with the second round of closures between March 26 to 30.
In between the closures, a 10mph speed restriction will come into effect on the stretch of road from 7am on March 17 until 4pm on March 25.
Motorists are advised to take an alternative route via the A697, A68, A6105, A6089 before joining back on the A697.
When works move into the next phase in April, the bridge will have a 7.5T maximum weight restriction, plus a 30mph speed restriction between 7am on April 16 until 4pm on May 31.
