ORGANISERS of the Borders Book Festival have said all events will be going ahead as normal following earlier disruption caused by Storm Hector.

As a result of the wild weather, staff dealt with minor damages at the festival site, which resulted in the Harmony Garden not opening until 4pm this afternoon (Thursday, June 14).

In a short statement, Borders Book Festival organisers said: "The Orchard is scheduled to open at 5.30pm (on Thursday).

"At the moment all events will be going ahead as normal."

Meanwhile, cookery duo The Hairy Bikers arrived at the festival earlier this afternoon.

Other guests set to attend this weekend's festival include; Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith, author Ian Rankin, former Prime Minister Gordon Brown and ITV News political editor Robert Peston.
