A GALASHIELS woman accused of having sex with a 14-year-old boy in Florida while working as a hooker has pleaded not guilty.

Sarah McGill was arrested on Saturday, April 7 at a hotel where she is alleged to have been working as a prostitute.

Prosecutors claim the 28-year-old was paid $480 by the boy to have sex.

McGill, who is originally from Selkirk and now lives at Church Square, faces a charge lewd and lascivious battery.

She was released from custody in April after surrendering her passport and paying a $1,000 bond.

Last week attorney Donald Lykkebak tabled a not guilty plea to the charge and requested a jury trial.

An arraingment hearing is scheduled to take place on July 19.
