POLICE searching for missing Melrose woman Leonora Harper Gow have found a body.

The 26-year-old, known as Blaise, went missing from Borders General Hospital on Sunday, June 17.

Desperate friends and family used social media as well as posters in around the town in an effort to trace the freelance illustrator.

But police confirmed a body was discovered in woodland close to where she went missing last week.

Although no formal identification has taken place, Miss Harper Gow's family have been informed.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police in the Scottish Borders can confirm that a woman's body has been recovered as part of the ongoing search for Leonora Harper Gow.

"Officers made the discovery at around 7pm on Tuesday within a wooded area near to Melrose.

"No formal identification of the body has taken place at this time, however, Leonara's family have been informed and will be kept fully updated."
