A 38-year-old Dutch national has been remanded in custody pending trial after being accused of setting fire to his partner’s home in Peebles.
Pieter Lens is charged with wilful fire-raising at a house in the School Brae area of Peebles on Tuesday, July 24.
He also faces a total of nine other charges which include theft, assault, threatening or abusive behaviour, breaching bail and motoring offences.
During a second private hearing at Selkirk Sheriff Court Lens of no fixed abode made no plea and he was fully committed for trial.
An application for bail was refused by Sheriff Peter Paterson.
