A SPECIAL kind of magic is coming to Selkirk this week as Lancashire-based tribute band QueenEsque kick off a series of brand new live music performances.

Fronted by Mark ‘Freddie’ Fletcher, QueenEsque are five musicians with one vision – to keep the energy and spectacle of Queen’s shows alive.

The high-quality act will perform at Selkirk’s Victoria Halls on Friday (August 10) as part of their 2018 Three Nations tour and will perform a range of the best loved and well known songs by rock legends Queen.

Ben Lamb, Facilities Manager for charity Live Borders, said: “QueenEsque is the first in a series of live music evening performances that will be taking place across a range of town halls in the Borders.

“We are investing time, effort and budget to ensure these are lively, fun and community-focused venues where residents and visitors alike can enjoy a great evening out.

"QueenEsque promises to be a fantastic night of live music and one not to be missed.”

The tour coincides with the release of the new Queen biopic this summer and front man Fletcher believes the Borders performance will offer a unique opportunity to all ages to experience the live music of Queen in their home surroundings.

"We are really delighted to be bringing our show to Selkirk and performing at the town's magnificent Victoria Halls,” he added.

“Venues like this are a treasured asset, not only to the communities that have them, but also to all the musicians and performers that need places like this in order to do what we love to do.

“We can't wait to come and bring a little Queen magic on August 10, and so the question we are asking is, Selkirk, are you ready for Freddie?"
