HARESTANES Countryside Visitor Centre will be coming alive with the sound of music at the beginning of next month.

Showcasing some of the best young talent from across the Borders, including Eryn Rae from Lanton and Coldstream’s Scott Turnbull, this free festival of live performances in a picturesque setting will also offer up locally sourced and freshly made food.

Along with Sound Cycle and Creative Arts Business Network (CABN), Harestanes will host its inaugural BBQ, Bar and Live Music event, open to people of all ages, on Sunday, September 2.

Harestanes manager Michael Scott said: “We wanted an event that would be different and would bring people together from across the Borders.

“By teaming up with Sound Cycle and CABN advocate James Mackintosh we have been able to give some of the best young musicians from around the region a stage to perform for their families, friends and the public.

“We will be running a barbecue and a bar so people can sit back with some food and drink and enjoy a great summer afternoon of music.

“Our café will also be open offering an outstanding selection of meals, cakes and great coffee.

“We are really excited by this event and hope that it can become a regular fixture of our annual programme.”

The family event will run from 1pm to 5pm.

Performer Eryn Rae added: “I’m really looking forward to this event.

“There isn’t a lot in the way of music in the Borders, and it’s nice to have such a close event, showcasing local talent that’s inclusive to all ages.”
