BOMB disposal teams were called out to West Linton recently following the discovery of a suspected world-war artillery shell.
Police were called to the Tweeddale village at around 2.30pm on Saturday, August 11, after the old munition was discovered.
Social media posts suggested that the item was found in a field just outside of the village.
Members of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) – a specialist unit responsible for counter terrorist bomb disposal and the recovery of conventional munitions, were quickly on the scene to deal with the suspected artillery shell.
The team deployed a bomb disposal robot to remove the munition.
A spokesperson from the police told us: “The item was safely disposed of by the EOD.”
