A GALASHIELS woman has been accused of claiming more than £17,000 in benefits she was not entitled to.
Thirty one year old Claire Swatton is charged with receiving £16,673.60 in Income Support between January 2012 and June 2016 at her Beech Avenue home.
She is also said to have received £681.84 in housing benefit during a four month period in 2013 she was not entitled to.
Swatton pleaded not guilty and a trial was fixed for Selkirk Sheriff Court on December 6 with an intermediate hearing on November 5.
