RUNNERS laced up once again for this year's family 5k fun run in Innerleithen on Saturday.

The crowds of entrants met on the shared pathway at the gate opposite the town's Health Centre at 1.45pm to register and hand in their sponsor money ahead of main event kicking off at 2pm.

The 5k route ventured up and down the Tweed Valley Railway path and took in the picturesque River Tweed.

And despite the number of runners being down from the record total of 50 who took part last year, a good afternoon was had by all involved.

Certificates were also awarded to all participants.

A spokesperson from the run said: "Well done to everyone who took part in our family 5k. We had thirty-six runners and lots of support.

"We raised £220 for Games Week 2019 and are very grateful to all sponsors for their support."

Among the children who took part, Johnny Birks came first, Ally Birks second, with Elly Baker in third.

The first adult racer across the finishing line was Nikki Douce.

The fundraising events continue for Games Week later in the year, with a Christmas coffee morning on Saturday, December 8 between 10am and 12noon in the Vale Club.

Looking ahead to next year, the Introduction Night of the Standard Bearer and Lass will take place at 7pm in the Memorial Hall on Friday, May 10, 2019.

And the St Ronan's Border Games Week will take place between Saturday, July 13 to Saturday, July 20, 2019.
