A 50-year-old man has been ordered to stay out of the village of Newcastleton until the outcome of his trial at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
David Brown of Woodstock Avenue, Galashiels, is accused of shouting and swearing and making homophobic and sectarian remarks in Moss Place, Newcastleton, on August 18.
He also denies two assaults and possession of a knuckleduster and a baton.
A trial date has been fixed for November 13 with an intermediate hearing on October 29 and Brown was granted bail with special conditions.
