POLICE are appealing for help to catch a church loiterer who smashed windows last weekend.
The man had been spotted suspiciously hanging around Our Lady & St Andrew's Catholic Church during the afternoon.
And a short time after being asked to leave the area windows at the historic building were targetted.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We are investigating following a report of vandalism in the Galashiels.
"The incident happened at around 2.35pm on Saturday, October 6 at a church in the Stirling Street area.
"Inquiries are ongoing and officers are currently following a positive line of enquiry."
The offence comes just a month after a purse was snatched during a service at the Catholic Church in Selkirk.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
