A PENSIONER who admitted a £20,000 benefits fraud will be sentenced at Jedburgh Sheriff Court next month.
Sixty eight year old Linda Doig pleaded guilty to claiming housing benefit to the value of £20,289.88 despite claiming she had no savings or capital when, in fact, she had savings of £50,000.
The offence happened at her home in Fairbairn Court, Greenlaw, between May 2014 and February 2018.
Sheriff Peter Paterson called for a Criminal Justice Social Work Report and a Restriction of Liberty Order assessment to be produced for November 27.
He added: "This is a serious matter and I need to see what sentencing options are open to me."
