Sex offender fined after breaching booze ban
A SEX offender banned from drinking alcohol was found drunk in Galashiels town centre, Jedburgh Sheriff Court has been told.
Dean Smith appeared from custody and pleaded guilty to breaching the terms of his Sexual Offences Prevention Order imposed in January 2014.
The 30-year-old admitted being intoxicated in Paton Street, Galashiels, on Tuesday and providing a breath test with a positive reading for alcohol.
Smith of Glenfield Road West, Galashiels, was fined £200 - to be paid within 28 days.
