A 21-year-old man who failed to carry out unpaid work as part of a Community Pay Back Order has been warned he faces the prospect of being jailed.
Jack Smith, of Market Square in Coldstream, was given 60 hours work after being convicted of being in possession of a knuckleduster in June.
But he breached the order by not carrying out the work and his lawyer admitted his client had difficulty getting out of bed in the morning.
Sheriff Peter Paterson warned Smith the sentence had been imposed as an alternative to custody.
He deferred sentence until December 24 at Jedburgh Sheriff Court for the production of background reports.
