GALASHIELS showed its festive spirit last weekend as Santa Claus came into town.
Santa took time out of his busy schedule and took to the town’s streets in his sleigh to meet with Gala youngsters.
Braving the rain, he also visited the Christmas Market held at Market Square and Douglas Bridge ahead of the Christmas lights switch on later in the day.
Organised by Galashiels and District Rotary Club, the Christmas Market hosted stalls selling arts and crafts, crocheted items, cards, cakes and sweets and more, as well as having chair swing ride for children.
At 5pm, onlookers wrapped up against the weather and gathered on Bank Street as the festive light display was switched on and the Christmas tree was illuminated.
