A 20-year-old Galashiels man has appeared in private at Selkirk Sheriff Court accused of assaulting a male to his severe injury.
It follows an incident in Galashiels on Monday, November 26.
Jack Ward of Coulter Avenue, made no plea and the case was continued for further examination and he was released on bail.
