A CANADIAN folk-roots duo is stopping off in the Borders as part of a UK tour.

Gordie Tentrees and Jaxon Haldane have announced eight Scottish dates as part of a national tour including stops in Biggar, Kelso and Coldingham.

Since coming together in 2014, Gordie and Jaxon have performed concerts in 11 countries, including Celtic Connections in Glasgow. Their latest tour is in support of their new record GRIT. The album was recorded live with renowned engineer/producer Scott Franchuk over five nights and five different venues in western Canada. The idea was inspired by audience members repeatedly asking for a record that sounded like the live experience Gordie and Jaxon are known for.

Together with 10 instruments – banjo, dobro, cigar box guitars, musical saw, acoustic guitar, porch board bass, harmonica, snare tambourine and mandolin – the new tracks showcase brotherly harmonies and masterful storytelling.

Gordie Tentrees and Jaxon Haldane perform in Coldingham Village Hall on Sunday, February 10, tickets at www.coldingham.info; The Tipsy Ghillie, Kelso, on Wednesday, February 13, 01573 225 354; and at The Wee Gig, Arcadia Music Cafe, Biggar, on Sunday, February 17, 07966 243587.
