A MOTORIST'S 60 years unblemished driving record has come to an end at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
Retired chartered accountant Hugh Hickman pleaded guilty to a careless driving offence at Woodend Corner on the A72 Peebles to Innerleithen road on October 21.
The court heard how the 79-year-old was overtaking and was met by a Transit van coming in the opposite direction.
It resulted in the motorist Hickman was overtaking to brake sharply.
The incident was witnessed by police officers who caught up with the accused at Dirtpot Corner.
Hickman of Leithen Road, Innerleithen, was fined £225 and had his licence endorsed with six penalty points.
