Police investigating the murder of Billyjoe Bates in Glasgow almost three months ago have appealed for witnesses to the incident to come forward.

The 28-year-old was found seriously injured in the Milton's Ashfield Street at its junction with Kippen Street at around 2.30pm on Sunday, November 18.

He was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he died in the early hours of Thursday, November 22.

Officers have now put out a fresh appeal for witnesses three months on from the attack, specifically looking for information about two individuals thought to be in the area at the time.

Police have released descriptions of the men, one of whom is said to have been bare-chested on the street.

He is said to have been in the company of another man who was wearing grey jogging bottoms, a grey top and possibly a black hooded top.

Police are still hunting for Billyjoe's killer and a £10,000 reward has been offered for information which will lead to an arrest in the case.

However, on Friday cops said that they did not believe that the attack was pre-planned or part of a gangland feud.

In a statement, Detective Inspector Scott McCallum said: "I'm here to appeal for any witnesses. It's now been almost three onths since Billyjoe Bates was murderd. He was found down here at the end of Kippen Street near its junction with Ashfield street by some passing members of the public.

"He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where after four days he sadly lost his life. I am particularly interested in any witnesses that may have been here on Sunday, November 18 at 2.30pm and have got information that there could have been two individuals who could have been out on the street at the time. One, a male who was bare chested and would have been in the company of another male who was wearing grey jogging trousers, a grey top, and possibly a black hooded top.

"I am really interested in anyone who may have seen these individuals at that time to contact the police, or alternatively contact Crimestoppers to come forward. As you can see the roadway is very busy and there could have been pedestrian traffic or visitors to the area who could come forward and speak to us."
