HOW many times have you been told to go see a certain band before they make it big?

And a year later everyone's forgotten all about them...

Well, for once the advice is pretty rock solid. If one band is set to explode this summer it's Indigo Velvet.

Echoes of everything that's been good about music for the past couple of decades, the Edinburgh four-piece have a refreshing originality that makes them instantly likeable with the added depth to make sure they remain on your playlist for a long time to come.

Despite the fan base growing throughout 2018 with a string of brilliant releases - which has taken them through the million Spotify plays - and grabbing the attentions of music magazines and radio stations around the world, Indigo velvet are warming up for big festival appearances this summer with a small-scale tour.

And, you've guessed it, they're coming to MacArts.

As good live as they sound on Spotify, Darren Barclay, Jason Tucker, Laurie Adam and Billy McMahon are unlikely to be playing such intimate venues in the years to come.

A spokeswoman for MacArts told us: "Indigo Velvet have played scores of UK festivals, been featured by Passport Approved, and have been championed by BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing, ITV, Radio X, Record of the Day, Metro, Scotland On Sunday, Clash, The Skinny Magazine, The Sun, Amazing Radio and plenty more.

"Their fanbase is growing rapidly both on and offline, and they will work with a new producer in 2019 and already have some international tours and festivals in the calendar."

Indigo Velvet played to a sold-out 13,000-capacity SSE Hydro in Glasgow last year.

And they also packed out venues across the country with several tours.

Indigo Velvet play the MacArts on Friday, March 1.

Tickets, priced at only £8, are available from the MacArts box office on 01896 756852.

And remember who told you to go see them.
