A 20-year-old man has been remanded in custody until his trial after being accused of breaching his bail conditions within hours of appearing in court.
David Cotton appeared from custody at Selkirk Sheriff Court last week charged with assaulting a 19-year-old male in Wellfield Road, Hawick, on Sunday, February 10.
The teenager is said to have suffered sustained facial injuries and had to be taken to Borders General Hospital for treatment.
Cotton of Wilton Crescent, Hawick, was granted bail with special conditions on a charge of assault during a private court hearing but is alleged to have breached those conditions that night after being released.
Cotton made no plea during a second private court appearance yesterday (Wednesday) to a charge of breaching his bail conditions and was fully committed for trial.
Bail was refused and he was remanded in custody.
