A LORRY driver has been accused of being more than four times the alcohol limit while driving through the Borders.

Sixty two year old Donald Russell denies driving with a breath/alcohol count of 93 microgrammes - the legal limit being 22 - on the A68 between Carter Bar and Jedburgh and on the A7 between Selkirk and Galashiels on September 19.

He also pleaded not guilty to careless driving on the A68 at Camptown near Jedburgh by crossing the double white lines and colliding with another lorry, failing to stop and give his name and address after an accident, and failing to report an accident to the police.

Russell of Overburn Avenue, Dumbarton, will stand trial at Selkirk Sheriff Court on March 26.
