A 35-year-old who behaved in an aggressive manner towards two brothers who walked past his home has been fined £200 at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
Alan Connor pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting and swearing at his home in Whitefield Avenue, Newtown St Boswells, on November 9.
The court was told said there had been a build-up of tension between people living in the local area prior to the incident.
On the day in question two men walked past Connor's home and he started banging on the window, shouting and swearing and making threatening comments towards them.
The matter was later reported to the police.
Defence lawyer Ed Hulme said the two men were known to his client and he had suspected one of them of posting messages on social media about him which were fictitious.
He added: "He was chasing them away from the front door as he felt they were there to cause trouble."
