A 28-year-old man who caused a disturbance at Borders General Hospital has been jailed for 160 days at Selkirk Sheriff Court.

Scott Carmichael pleaded guilty to shouting and swearing, repeatedly striking furniture and struggling violently with police officers in the hospital on July 8.

He admitted a charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner while on bail.

The court heard Carmichael, formerly of Gala Park Court, Galashiels, was already remanded in custody in connection with another matter in Edinburgh.
