A 21-year-old man who caused a disturbance in his local branch of William Hill has been ordered to carry out 200 hours unpaid work at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
Peter Morey, of Dalatho Crescent in Peebles, pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and screaming, knocking furniture over, striking out at staff members and spitting on the floor in the High Street premises on October 3.
A not guilty plea to attempting to punch an employee was accepted by the Crown.
Procurator fiscal Graham Fraser said the dispute started when a staff member asked Morey for ID as there was an age limit of 21 to operate a machine in the shop.
Morey objected and his mother got involved in the argument as well.
