A TOURIST who was arrested just days after a Hawick man died following a bar fight in Spain has been released from prison.
Jim Clark was on a stag party in Benidorm when he was pronounced dead during the early hours of March 8.
It is claimed the popular 33-year-old had been involved in an altercation at a bar in the busy Calle Gerona area at around 3am.
Another 33-year-old tourist was arrested at Alicante Airport in connection with Mr Clark's death.
The unnamed man spent 31 days in prison before being released last week.
An investigating judge has told the accused he must sign on at court every fortnight but has not banned him from leaving Spain.
Newspaper sources in Benidorm state the man's release follows inconclusive autopsy results which haven't shown a direct link between Mr Clark's cause of death and a fight.
No charges have been brought against the 33-year-old suspect but he remains an 'investigado' - the legal term under Spanish law for being 'under investigation'.
