ENERGY firm SSE Renewables has opened the third round of its Scottish Borders Sustainable Development Fund, making £200,000 available to support transformative community projects.
The Fund is open to non-profit organisations, community groups and charities across the region.
Successful projects will have the potential to deliver transformational social, economic and environmental changes in the local area and support long-term community development.
They will also be expected to increase opportunities for education and employment, build resilience and protect vulnerable residents or stimulate meaningful community regeneration.
SSE Renewables created the Sustainable Development Fund as part of its community benefit arrangements from its onshore renewable energy developments in Scottish Borders.
The second round of the fund provided over £290,00 to six local projects to support youth development, heritage and rural economy initiatives.
Successful projects included Garvald Home Farm, who were supported to improve farm facilities at a social farm and Young Enterprise Scotland, who received funding to deliver an enterprise programme in the Borders.

The deadline for applications to be received is midday on July 25, 2019.
