CELEBRATED and award-winning author Christopher Brookmyre brings his highly-entertaining new play to the Borders later this month.

A Tale Etched In Blood And Hard Black Pencil is a hilarious Scottish black comedy performed by the Horsehead Theatre company.

When a double murder reunites the classmates of St Elizabeth’s Primary School, scores are settled, debts repaid and alliances forged.

Some 20 years have passed but will those bonds still hold fast?

Brookmyre takes a nostalgic look at school days, filled with psycho teachers, class jokers and playground feuds.

And it is all set to a cracking 70s/80s soundtrack!

Following their 2017 sell-out run at Edinburgh Fringe and at the international crime writing festival, Bloody Scotland, Horsehead Theatre are touring A Tale Etched In Blood And Hard Black Pencil throughout 2019.

Brookmyre himself admits Horsehead Theatre have produced 'an utterly brilliant adaptation'.

As the play contains very strong language and scenes of a sexual nature, it is suitable for 14s and over only.

A Tale Etched In Blood And Hard Black Pencil will be performed at the MacArts on Saturday, May 11.

Tickets, priced at £12 (£10 Concession), are available from the box office on 01896 756 852.

Doors open at 7pm with the play starting at 7.30pm.
