AN appeal has been launched after two cars were broken into in Galashiels.

The incidents happened in Lawyers Brae on Tuesday.

A navy blue handbag was stolen from a Toyota Rav 4 between 9.50am and 10.25am.

And items were taken from a Kia Seed between 8.30am and 3.40pm.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "If you saw or heard anything suspicious in the area at the time please contact us on 101 and quote incident number 0960 or 2247.

"Alternatively If you have any information about this, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers 100 per cent anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their anonymous online form at crimestoppers-uk.org

"Remember not to leave items of value on open display within your vehicle and to put items away out of site, either in the boot out of site or locked in the glove box."
