A 50-YEAR-OLD Galashiels man died in hospital after falling from his bike on Sunday afternoon.
George Hume had earlier taken part in a 50-miles charity cycle event in and around Selkirk.
And it was understood he was cycling home along the River Tweed multi-use path when he took ill and came off his bike.
Emergency services were called at around 4.15pm.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland confirmed Mr Hume had been taken to Borders General Hospital, where he later died.
An inquiry into his death is continuing.
