ONCE again, The Border Telegraph has teamed up with the Borders Festival of Motoring to offer our readers the chance to win an exclusive VIP prize at the BVAC Classic on Sunday, June 2.

As you’ll know, the first weekend in June heralds the arrival of the BVAC Classic at Thirlestane Castle each year.

With more than 1400 vintage and classic vehicles of all shapes and sizes and around 6,000 visitors making the journey to Lauder, this is undoubtedly one of the biggest and best classic car rallies in the whole country.

This is a very special year for the annual Festival of Motoring, 2019 is the year that the Mini celebrates its 60th birthday and to mark this motoring milestone, the central theme of this year’s BVAC Classic is ‘The Year of the Mini’.

The Borders Vintage Automobile Club believes the Mini to be the most iconic British car ever and are celebrating 60 years of this much-loved small car in a big way.

Fabulous events including a Classic Mini Cooper Raffle in aid of My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, a Big Mini Cram record breaking attempt, surprise celebrity guests, an Italian Job display and much, much more.

But quite incredibly, 2019 is also a year that is jam packed with other motoring milestones, significant birthdays and anniversaries.

From the Mini to the Rolls Royce Phantom, the Ford Capri to the Triumph Herald, the Bentley and Fiat to the Austin Healey 3000 and the Jaguar Mk 2.

This year’s event will be showcasing many famous models and marques who are all celebrating a special anniversary this year.

As ever, there’s something for everyone at the BVAC Classic with Veteran, Vintage and Classic Cars, Motorcycles, Commercial, Agricultural, Military, Steam and American Classes on show.

But you don’t have to be a petrol-head to enjoy the show, as it is a fabulous day out for the whole family with super attractions, live music and entertainment, a crafts fair and new for 2019, a special Taste of the Borders Fair.

The overall winner of our competition will be given a tour of the Borders countryside in a Suffolk SS100 Jaguar* ahead of the show on Sunday, June 2.

They will then be able to invite a friend to lunch at Firebrick Brasserie. The winner will also be presented with a goody bag of motoring memorabilia and a commemorative photo will be taken of them in the car in front of the Castle and delivered after the event.

The prize also includes a VIP guided tour of Thirlestane Castle for both at a time of their choosing.

There will also be 10 pairs of tickets for the runners up.
