CELEBRATED musicians Hector Christie and Chris Edwards have teamed up for a stunning new CD.

And they are about launch the album Ghaists in the Air at St Boswells later this month.

Chris is a well-known and talented multi-instrumentalist. His long term relationship with music includes absorbing styles from Scotland, Scandanavia and Ireland where he lived for several years.

Hector was born in Aberdeenshire, raised in Angus and has spent half his working life in the Scottish Borders, where he will be a familiar face to many, who remember the events he organised such as the Sleepytoon Folk Club, the Melrose Music Festival and the Both Sides of the Tweed.

He tended to keep his singing in the background then.

But not any more.

The new CD has won warm praise already with Iona Fyfe - Scots Singer of the year 2018 - commenting: “I love the CD - very lovely instrumentation."

An The Living Tradition magazine stated: "...the quality never drops - Hector's distinctive voice and Angus's accent compliment the dialect of the poems".

Ghaists in the Air features 12 songs that began their lives as poems by the poet/novelist/diarist Violet Jacob (1863-1947).

Some had tunes put to them already by a folk scene that had increasingly begun to adopt Violet's writings.

Hector and Chris will perform Ghaists in the Air at St Boswells Village Hall on Tuesday, may 28.

Tickets, priced at £10, are available for the St Boswells concert via Border Events at www.borderevents.com or ring 01750 725480.

Doors open at 8pm.
